Job Description:
Chartwells Higher Education brings fresh ideas and innovative concepts to higher education foodservice. This position is the Chef Liasion for the school's culinary training program and the daily foodservice operation. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, along with ensuring that the food offered to the students is of superior quality. You will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
- Preparing from scratch the tastings associated with 6 sections of World Cuisines (some of that prep may need to occur months in advance of the tasting)
- Place, order, and receive food and other items (e.g., serviceware) to be used in conjunction with the classes and special events
- Label incoming items for Leven School and ensure properly delivered to various designated locations;
- Support instructors with class needs, including assisting students in food prep and production as part of capstone class, conducting demonstrations of food preparation techniques, ensuring all items are available for food production, etc.
- Conduct regular inventory of all items associated with Leven School
- Run errands, as needed, to locate food items unable to order through Chartwells system, may include going to specialized markets, farms or the grocery store
- Prepare detailed and precise accounting of invoices, receipts and backup documentation to be submitted to Leven school in order to reimburse Chartwells for classes and events
- Work special events, as needed
- Move supplies and equipment among various spaces used on campus; Other tasks, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree preferred.
- Three to five years of culinary management experience.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Higher Education culinary experience is preferred.
- Desire to work with an industry leader.
- ServSafe Certification.
